New Brunswick Statistics
Roots of Empathy was first introduced into New Brunswick in the fall of 2002 in 30 classrooms, in two regions in the Province.
In the 2008-09 school year in New Brunswick:
- 2,475 children in New Brunswick are participating in the program, an increase of 24% over the previous year.
- 99 classrooms in 81 schools are involved in the program in the English School Districts 2, 6, 8, 10, 14, 16, 18 (Moncton, Rothesay, Saint John, St. Stephen, Woodstock, Miramichi and Fredericton) and in French School Districts 5, 9 and 11.
- 96 ROE Instructors are delivering the program. These Instructors are supported by provincially by six Mentors, nine Key Point People (local program coordinators) and two Trainers, one English and one French.
- NB ROE is delivering a total of 20 French language programs across the province; these include three programs in French immersion classrooms and 17 programs in French school boards.
- ROE is delivering programs to over 70 Aboriginal children across the province including three programs on-reserve.
Since 2002, Roots of Empathy has reached 9,600 students in New Brunswick
