Isle of Man Lead Agency Awarded for Roots of Empathy Program
November 2011: The Children’s Centre, the lead agency coordinating the delivery of the Roots of Empathy program on the Isle of Man, was awarded the Mannvend Award for Corporate Social Responsibility at the annual Isle of Man Newspapers Awards for Excellence gala, Thursday, November 17th in Douglas, Isle of Man.
With over 1,200 in attendance, the evening was launched by Chief Minister Allan Bell MHK and broadcast live by IOMToday. Sue Porter, member of the Roots of Empathy Steering Group accepted the award from Tracey Leahy of Mannvend.
A special edition of the Isle of Man Examiner, released November 22nd 2011, provides details of the 16 winners, in categories ranging from public sector achievement, teamwork and charity, cultural and social enterprise.
Isle of Man was the first to host Roots of Empathy programs in Europe, and over 2,000 children have participated in the program since it was introduced in 2008. Now present on three continents, Roots of Empathy, in Europe, is also offered in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
