Mary Gordon to deliver keynote at Living Compassion Conference
24 October 2012: Roots of Empathy Founder/President Mary Gordon will be in Flagstaff, Arizona, to deliver a keynote speech at the Living Compassion Conference, hosted by the SBS Compassion Project and Northern Arizona University College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
The conference aims to examine compassion and its potential to enrich lives. On the opening night of the conference, Gordon will address academics, researchers, practitioners and students about the power of empathy in building more caring, peaceful and civil societies. Recognized for her background as an educator, social entrepreneur, parenting expert and child advocate, Gordon will outline the Roots of Empathy program and its impact in developing social and emotional learning in children.
Speakers from numerous academic and professional fields—including philosophy, psychology, physiology, and more—will join Gordon at the interdisciplinary conference. Presenters will share their basic and applied research on compassion, as well as their projects and programs that promote compassion in the community.
The conference will take place on October 26 and October 27, and is open to students and community members. Registration is available online.
