Mary Gordon Delivers Keynote Address at International Conference

January 17, 2012: On January 22nd, Mary Gordon will join an influential group of over 200 individuals representing charitable organizations, government and academic institutions as well as disabled persons advocacy associations from around the world as they gather for the first International Conference on Good Policies for Disabled People in Vienna, Austria.

Speaking on fostering human capacities for empathy and respect from earliest childhood, Gordon will launch the two-day conference focusing on the development, promotion and accelerated implementation of policies to support people living with disabilities.

Organized by the Essl Foundation, World Future Council’s Jacob von Uexkull and Bank Austria, the event aims to strengthen political commitment and action for the protection of disabled people’s human rights. Over the course of two days, outstanding examples of successful laws addressing a wide array of challenges – from independent living in Sweden to inclusive education in Italy – will be highlighted, serving to inspire and guide the way forward.
