Launched in 2002-2003, Roots of Empathy has reached more than 74,000 children in Alberta.

  • In Alberta, Roots of Empathy has a long tradition of programs involving Aboriginal children, with more than 80 programs in First Nations communities or in areas with a high proportion of Aboriginal students.

  • 86 % of Alberta students in the Roots of Empathy program reported an increase in their awareness of bullying (including calling people names, leaving people out, and making fun of people).
