- In 2013-14, Children and Youth Opportunities Minister Kevin Chief will invest over $350,000 to provide Roots of Empathy to more children in the province. From an article in the Winnipeg Free Press May 23, 2013: "The positive behaviour that comes from having compassion is worth the investment. ... Every dollar invested in early-childhood programs results in $17 saved later ... 'There's an increase in self-esteem,' he said. 'It absolutely works.'"
- In 2001, Manitoba established the first Francophone Roots of Empathy programs in Canada.
- Research through a randomized control trial, initiated in 2001, indicated that for Manitoba boys and girls in all grade levels, the Roots of Empathy program had statistically significant beneficial effects, including reduced aggression and increased positive behaviours.
- In Manitoba, 81% of teachers with Roots of Empathy classrooms strongly agreed or agreed that, as a result of the program, students are more inclusive or accepting of others who are different from themselves (including culture, race, special needs, gender, etc.).
