By the end of the 2012-2013 school year, Roots of Empathy will have reached more than 4,000 children in Prince Edward Island since the provincial launch of the program in 2000-2001.

- In 2000, Prince Edward Island became the first Atlantic province in Canada to offer the Roots of Empathy program.
- The Roots of Empathy program is offered in two-thirds of the school districts in Prince Edward Island.
- There is currently a Roots of Empathy program running in the First Nations community of Lennox Island and one program running in Mt. Stewart, which has a high Mi'kmaq population.
